🌨️ Buckle Up, Buttercups! 🌨️ We’re toughing it out for the rest of this winter—no distance learning, so if you’re not here, you’re missing out! But if you are here, get ready for a rootin’ tootin’ good ole time with all these Wonky Honkies! 🚜💨 P.S. Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day, so come share the love (or at least some candy) and warm up those frozen hearts! 💖😂 #HonkerStrong #WinterWarriors #FrostyButFestive

Honker Families: KPS would like to invite you to report your child(ren)'s absences digitally in the future. This can be done the day of or in advance if you know your child will be absent for a medical appointment or other event. Phone calls will still be accepted for absences, this is simply for convenience for families and the school administrative assistants. When submitted, you will receive a copy of the form in your email. PowerSchool alerts will still be in effect to notify you of student absences as well. This form is also accessible on the Kenmare Public School website under Parent Resources. https://forms.gle/cmHaMPAWJYaRCHjS6

Parents - Our office staff needs you to call your students in if they won't be there right away in the mornings. They have way too many other things to do in the morning. If there is not a call from parents, students will be counted unexcused absent. Our policy states the following: Attendance Policy Parents or guardians are to call the office on the day the student is absent to verify the absence. If a call is not made, the student must bring a note to the principal or main office signed by the parent or guardian explaining the absence.

Once again, we’re fastening down the hatches and holding onto our hats (literally) until this wild wind decides to take a break. So, the same rules apply for tomorrow and Thursday—if your child can’t make it in, give the school a call. If they’re opting for distance learning, have them email their teachers (carrier pigeons are NOT recommended... they’d probably end up in Minot with this wind). Stay safe, stay grounded, and when you do go outside, maybe bring some ankle weights. 💨😆 Merry Valentine's, Honkers!

Dear Honkers, Knock, knock! Your favorite meteorologist here again! ❄️ A cold weather warning is in effect until 12:00 PM (noon) tomorrow. If you feel it’s unsafe for your child to be out in the cold, they are welcome to distance learn from home. Either way, their absence will be excused due to weather. For those who can safely make it in, we’ll be here with jingle bells on! 🎄 Stay warm and have a lovely evening, Honkers!

Dear KPS - Here is some data gathered from staff, students, and families on the consideration of a four-day school week. To be clear, this will not be an option next year, but before dedicating a committee to taking time to do research on this change, we needed to know if this was something the community was in favor of. Thanks for your input. - Mrs. Hennix LINK: https://www.kenmare.k12.nd.us/documents/four-day-school-week-surveys/757243

Eight students from Grades 7 and 8 represented our school at the Ward County MathCounts competition on Wednesday, February 5th. They were selected to participate because of their top scores on our in-school MathCounts test. These students did well in their tests today, but did not make the finals in the county competition.

❤️ It's time to warm up with another party next week. The elementary kids want to remind our upper grades how fun Valentine's Day can be. We have little activities planned for PK-12, but we want to welcome all students to bring Valentines, candy, etc., if they wish to share kind affirmations with others in our school on February 14th. You are important, Honkers! Let's uplift each other. Happy Valentine's Day. It's going to be a fun day.💜
