Family & Community Guides to the 2023 ND Math & ELA Standards: Now Available
The North Dakota Department of Public Instruction (NDDPI) is excited to announce a new resource document for schools, families, and community members. The Family & Community Guides are designed for individuals outside the education field who are invested in students' learning experiences. These guides provide an overview of what students will learn at each grade level, offering insights into classroom activities and suggestions for supporting learning at home.
The guides are organized by grade level to align with the typical school structure, except for High School, which has a single guide each covering grades 9-12. Available in PDF format, these guides can be easily printed and shared, making them accessible to families and community members.
The North Dakota Content Standards serve as a model to establish teaching and learning goals, outlining the knowledge and skills students should achieve at each grade level. While local school districts choose the specific curriculum to meet these standards, the Family & Community Guides present a simplified version for parents and community members. These guides provide a basic understanding of the expected skills and learning experiences, complementing the more detailed standards written for professional educators.

Farmers Union Oil Company of Kenmare, Bowbells, and Powers Lake will be serving Hamburgers, Chips, and Macaroni Salad.
Serving will start at 6pm and go until the food is gone.
On behalf of the Student Health Clinic and Counseling Center at Minot State University, we would like to invite you to attend a public speaking engagement on Monday, September 30, at 7pm in the Ann Nicole Nelson Hall (Old Main building) at MSU. Angela Kennecke, a former investigative reporter from Sioux Falls, SD, will be sharing her daughter Emily’s Story. Emily passed away three days before she was scheduled to be checked into a treatment facility. Emily died after receiving a fatal dose of a substance that was laced with enough fentanyl to kill six people.
Please share this flyer with your students, parents, family, and friends. We welcome students of all ages to attend this event, in hopes that Emily’s Story can provide impactful public awareness to our community.

📢A BIG shoutout to the Kenmare Country Club and Pieter (Course Superintendent) on allowing the Honkers to host the 2024 NWC Cross Country Meet this year.📢
🏆The Honkers finished with 3 Championships and a 3rd place finish during the meet as a team.🏆
🗓️The Honkers will host a 2nd cross country meet, the "Kenmare XC Invite" on Tuesday, September 24th and after this meet we will have a "Little Honker Invite" for all the 3rd-6th graders in Kenmare, Bowbells, and Burke Central.

👏🏼The Honkers placed 4th as a team on Friday, September 6th in Bismarck at Tom O'Leary Golf Course.👏🏼
🥉McKenna Mau was a medalist and placed 3rd with a 94.
Tom O'Leary Golf Course threw some challenges at the girls throughout the day, but it was a great experience to golf on a course we usually do not get to see.

📝 Registration for Famly Code Camp is Now Open!
🧑💻 👩💻 Kenmare Elementary will be hosting a Family Code Camp on September 26th from 5:30-7:00. The event will be geared toward PreK-5 students working with their parents and/or other family members! Join us for an evening of dinner and guided coding.
🤖 One lucky winner will be drawn to take home a coding robot!

🤜🏽🎟️Congrats to McKenna Mau on shooting one stroke under the state qualifying standard, and punching her ticket to the Class B State Girls Golf Meet!

On Thursday, September 5th the Honkers edged out the DLB Lakers by 1 stroke to take home the NWC Championship in Stanley. What a great team effort and even some top personal best scores!

The Kenmare-Bowbells Honker Volleyball Team is selling t-shirts to continue their fundraising efforts for Breast Cancer Research. Money raised from the t-shirt sales will go to The Side Out Foundation for Breast Cancer Research.

First XC meet of the season and it was sure a hot one, but that didn't stop the Honkers from competing and putting up some good times early in the season.
📅The Honkers will be hosting this years' NWC Meet on Tuesday, September 10th at 12pm (1st Time Ever👏🏼) and then the Kenmare Country Club invite on Tuesday, September 24th at 11am.
🗓️Kenmare-Bowbells-Burke Central and Powers Lake students in grades 3rd-6th have been invited to run around 1:30 in our "3rd Annual Elementary Meet" on 9/24. This takes place after the V, JV, and 6th grade races.
