🏅 Congratulations to the High School Students of the Month for October! 🏅 Representing the Middle School, as a seventh grader for grades 6/7/8, is Mersadie Miller, daughter of Doug and Laura Miller. Mersadie likes to keep busy and is active in cross country, basketball, rodeo, golf and now “Battle of the Books” (a new reading program/contest where students compete with other schools). Mersadie said she is proud of being a part of all the sports and class activities that are opportunities which Kenmare School has to offer. Through education, Mersadie understands that she needs to be smart and make good decisions so she can get the degree she wants. At this time, Mersadie is looking at a future job of being either a veterinarian or a chiropractor. Shae Jensen, a sophomore, was selected as the student of the month for the 9th/10th grade. Shae is the daughter of Chuck Jensen. In her spare time, Shae enjoys participating in 4H, Minot Trail Rides and Northern Edge Saddle Club. While in school, Shae has been a part of the speech team. Shae is proud of being part of the speech team because it has brought her out of her shell. She did a duo last year and it was a comedy. “We didn’t win, but I got out of my element and learned a lot.” Education is important to Shae as it is a way to gain a better paying job. “Education shows us the importance of hard work and at the same time helps us to grow.” Shae’s current goal is for her arm to get better so she can write her own papers. Her next goal would be to make it to State Speech. She also wants to win a buckle in the world of rodeo but her biggest goal would be to gain a chiro/vet equine degree. Nominated to represent the 11th/12th grade was Gavin Gill. Gavin, a senior. He is the son of Tawnya and Justin Gill. Gavin has been involved in drama, football and track. “I am proud of getting myself to State in track with some help from coaches and others along the way.” Gavin feels education is important because of the job opportunities that are available because of a good education. Gavin’s future goal is to become a diesel mechanic.

✈️ Students Aiden Melin, Cole Mogren, and Caleb Knutson who are enrolled in the dual credit drones course were visited by their instructor Dr. Linda Burbidge from Dakota College of Bottineau. She brought a fixed-wing drone which was launched by throwing it into the air. Caleb Knutson is seen launching the drone at the Kenmare Golf Course. The students then gathered around as Dr. Burbidge explained the footage taken by the drone over the golf course. ✈️
