Dear KPS - Here is some data gathered from staff, students, and families on the consideration of a four-day school week. To be clear, this will not be an option next year, but before dedicating a committee to taking time to do research on this change, we needed to know if this was something the community was in favor of. Thanks for your input. - Mrs. Hennix LINK: https://www.kenmare.k12.nd.us/documents/four-day-school-week-surveys/757243

Eight students from Grades 7 and 8 represented our school at the Ward County MathCounts competition on Wednesday, February 5th. They were selected to participate because of their top scores on our in-school MathCounts test. These students did well in their tests today, but did not make the finals in the county competition.

❤️ It's time to warm up with another party next week. The elementary kids want to remind our upper grades how fun Valentine's Day can be. We have little activities planned for PK-12, but we want to welcome all students to bring Valentines, candy, etc., if they wish to share kind affirmations with others in our school on February 14th. You are important, Honkers! Let's uplift each other. Happy Valentine's Day. It's going to be a fun day.💜

Applied Science has been learning about hors d'oeuvres. They consist of a base, spread, and garnish and should be able to be eaten in 1-2 bites. After learning about some of the different varieties and strategies for making them, the class was split into three groups and competed in a Chopped Challenge where each group was given 30 minutes to prepare two hors d'oeuvres. They did not know what secret ingredients were required until class and had to use blueberries, won-ton skins, and pico de gallo. Additionally, they could also use whatever other ingredients were provided in the classroom. The groups were judged based on their creativity, taste, and presentation, just like in the TV series. Although all of the groups made tasty, creative hors d'oeuvres, the group with the best presentation that came away with the win was the green group consisting of Shae Jensen, Madysyn Madrid, Anna Albert, and Hank Binstock. Other competitors included the blue group with Connor Melin, Delaney Feldman, Cole Mogren, Jamison Grindeland, and Caleb Frauenfelter. The yellow group had members including Paul Melin, Maddox Chrest, Devin Gesvali, and Gage Holter.
