Kiwanis Cross Country meet in Mandan was held on Friday, September 3. With seven events held during the event over 600 athletes were registered to compete from both Class A and Class B schools. In the varsity girls event (5000 m), Ava Froseth ran 22:44 and Karliegh Quinata ran 26:38. Ava shaved 3 minutes from her first cross country event at Velva. For Karliegh this was her first race ever as a cross country runner. In JV (4000 m), Anna Petersen continues to excel and placed sixth with an 18:04 time against 71 other runners in that division. On the boys side, both the JV and varsity ran 5000 m (3.1 miles). In the varsity event William Cook ran an 18:49 with Mason Chrest running a 19:54. Justin Burud came across the finish line with a 21:18 and Andrew King at 24:58. For the JV boys Drew Houck led the Kenmare boys with 24:10 but Eli Anderson is quickly finding his rhythm with a 24:17. Landan Spear ended with a 24:36; Zachary Griffin with a 27:27 and Cole Mogren with a 24:41. Next meet is at Stanley on Tuesday, September 7th.

Team placing 1st DLB 376 2nd Newtown 387 3rd Stanley 399 4th Tioga 419 5th MLS 430 6th South Prairie 441 7th Kenmare 474 8th Ray 483 9th White Shield 626 Top 5 Individuals Lauryn Keller-DLB 76 Caiti Hennessy-Stanley 83 Winter Old Rock-Newtown 85 Brooklyn Hanson-DLB 90 Raylene Driver-Newtown 93 Kenmare Scores: 19th- Charlotte Brekhus had her best 18 hole round of the season with a 109 24th- Rylee Hedberg also had her best 18 hole score of the season with a 113 33rd- McKenna Mau shot a 123 35th- Brooke Livingston shaved off 11 strokes on her back nine and posted a 129 The young Honkers continue to post decent scores. The Honkers will host another golf meet on Wednesday starting at 9am at the Kenmare Country Club!
