SCIENCE AND SHAKESPEARE: 10th grade students in Mrs. Mibeck and Miss McClure's classes integrated science with poetry and created some awesome websites to show off their work! Great job to the teachers for creating cross-curricular opportunities, and to students for taking the assignment and making it their own! KPS digital dress up days
KEEPING STUDENTS SAFE: Kenmare Public School uses Bark for Schools to help us monitor school-issued accounts for signs of digital dangers. When potential issues like cyberbullying, suicidal ideation, and threats of violence arise, Bark sends us a notification. Parents and guardians can benefit from receiving these alerts, as well. Kids use their school-issued accounts both at school and at home, and families are often in a better position to respond to urgent alerts after hours, on weekends, and during breaks. These are times when administration may not be available in the event of an emergency. In the coming days, you will receive an invitation to create your free account for the Bark for Schools Parent Portal. As soon as you opt in, you’ll start receiving after-hours alerts when Bark detects potentially time-sensitive issues. Bark for Schools is free for both our school and for you. For even greater coverage, you can also sign up for Bark for Families, which monitors texts, chat, email, YouTube, and 30+ social media platforms for potential safety concerns. Kenmare Public School has secured a 20% discount for Bark for Families — you’ll only have to pay $7.20 per month to cover an unlimited number of accounts, devices, and children. If you have any questions, please contact us by email, phone, or Facebook Messenger. Thank you for your support as we strive to help keep our students safe both online and in real life. For more information on the Bark Parent Portal, follow this link. https://help.bark.us/en/articles/2670927-faqs-parent-portal

DISTANCE LEARNING INFORMATION: KPS is going digital! In order to abide by Governor Burgum's guidelines, we are setting up digital learning for students. Teachers will be sending information to students through your KPS email or through Remind and Facebook for younger grades. We've added a new tab to our website (www.kenmare.k12.nd.us) titled "Distance Learning." This tab has tutorials for Zoom and Google Classroom, guides to resources and a document titled "Opportunities for Learning" where all teacher links are housed. Please refer back to this tab on the website (pictured below) because it will continue to be updated as more information is shared. Again, be sure to fill out the Nutritional Needs Survey if you are in need of meals at this time and contact Dr. Godfrey if you are in need of internet services. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have questions--we can get through this new adventure together!

Kenmare Public Schools will remain closed until further notice. Understand that this closure could continue if the COVID-19 crisis does not subside or could be shortened if it does. I will make sure to get information to the public ASAP in either case. Instruction will continue beginning Wednesday, March 25th. We will be using Google Classroom and Zoom to provide educational services for our students. Information on how to access both platforms will be posted on our district Facebook page and our district website on Tuesday, March 24. During this time of closure, meals will still be provided for students who rely on the student nutrition program. A Google form was posted on our district Facebook page earlier this week to request meals. If you feel your child needs school breakfast/lunch, please complete the form and those meals will be delivered to your home. The contents of each student's locker, to include their PE locker, will be bagged up and ready for pick up on Tuesday, March 24. Times for pick up will be between 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Students and parents will not be allowed in the building. I realize this is different from what was previously announced but we feel it is safer this way. When you arrive to retrieve students' materials, you will be asked to stay outside and the materials will be brought out to you. Please observe social distancing while waiting and please be patient and courteous to all other individuals who are waiting as well. A copy of our COVID-19 task force organizational chart and our COVID-19 emergency action plans are posted on our district website under the Menu option. I also ask that during this time, you remain vigilant. We all have different ideas and opinions about the district and the education of our children. During these times of crisis, we are a community of one and can manage to get through these troubled times by supporting each other through it. Thank you for being part of Honker Nation. Dr. Godfrey
